Finally another Hypernova pattern is online now: It’s the shawl and shawlette.
If you prefer working the scarf version, please see here.
The Shawl
I decided to make two single patterns since the stitch and yarn calculations highly differ between shawl and shawlette. I publish my patterns both in English and German. In this case that means there will be 4 files, two in each language. The pattern includes a photo tutorial for a specific (and maybe new) technique, detailed instructions and charts (no written pattern).
Details:
a) The Shawl
- using 1 skein Wollmeise laceyarn (=1300 m/1400 yds)
- measurements: 150 cm x 75 cm (60” x 30”)
- circular needles 3 mm / US size 2.5 (length 32-40”) and
- circular needles 3.5 mm / US size 4 for a more elastic bind off
The shawl is shaped like a 3/4 circle. If you prefer working with fingering yarn, I highly recommend knitting the shawlette pattern.
b) The Shawlette
- 1 skein (= 524 m/574 yds) Wollmeise 100 % merino up to 2 full skeins (1148m/1148 yds) can be used to make a larger shawlette
- measurements: 100 cm x 50 cm (40” x 20”)
- circular needles 3 mm / US size 2.5 (length 32-40”) and
- circular needles 3.5 mm / US size 4 for a more elastic bind off
The shawlette is semicircle shaped. If you prefer working with lace and/or using more (!) yardage than given in this pattern, I highly recommend knitting the lace shawl pattern. Otherwise, you will need to recalculate your increases.
